Relieve your tinnitus

What can you do if you think you have tinnitus?

It is important to realise that there is currently no cure for tinnitus. With that in mind you need to understand and manage your tinnitus, so you can make the first steps to take back control.

Visit your GP

If your tinnitus is persistent and troublesome you should initially speak with your GP. Your doctor should do a physical check to ensure there is not something visible that is causing your tinnitus. Your GP may refer you to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and/or recommend a hearing evaluation.

Can hearing aids help?

A hearing evaluation is a good first step

For many people tinnitus can be related to a reduction in their hearing range. In these situations, hearing aids can help. If you have tinnitus we would recommend having a hearing evaluation to rule out hearing loss.

Rediscover sounds you had forgot

When you start wearing hearing aids the brain needs to become accustomed to all the sounds that it may have forgotten or is having trouble identifying. The amplification the hearing aids provide can reduce the contrast between your tinnitus and the surrounding sounds and help to make it less noticeable.

Tinnitus masking technology

All the leading hearing device manufacturers have models integrated with tinnitus sound therapy. Soothing sounds or background noise delivered to your ears helps to distract your thoughts away from your tinnitus and helps to blend it into the background.

Not just a hearing aid

Don’t be put off by the thought of wearing hearing aids. These devices are mostly used for those who need improvement to their hearing, but they can also be used to help relieve tinnitus.

A wide range of choice and style

Tinnitus hearing solutions are available in a wide range of styles many of which are small, discreet and comfortable to wear.
