Say goodbye to batteries with rechargeable hearing aids
A convenient, eco-friendly alternative to traditional hearing aids
We’re delighted to offer our customers in Bournemouth and the surrounding areas to the advantages of rechargeable hearing aids. At Key to Hearing, we’re keen for you to benefit from the latest developments in hearing aid technology. We have a range of rechargeable devices from leading hearing aid brands to give you more choice.
Rechargeable hearing aids explained
As the name suggests, a rechargeable hearing aid is powered by an internal battery that can be recharged rather than being removed and replaced.
They’ve been around for a while, but recent enhancements in technology have increased battery life and power output and made them easier to use. Modern devices usually only need charging once a day – just like a smart phone or tablet – and the battery units just need replacing every four to five years.
As a result of these developments, rechargeable hearing aids are becoming more popular, and all of the latest behind-the-ear devices as well as some customised models are now available in rechargeable format.
Lithium-ion rechargeable hearing aids
The latest rechargeable hearing aids use the same technology as smart phones and tablets. Lithium-ion batteries are sealed into the hearing aid for safety reasons. This means it can’t be replaced by the user, but on the other hand, it should last between three to five years.
How rechargeable hearing aids work
A rechargeable hearing aid works in much the same way as a modern zinc-air battery-powered device. The main difference is that you charge the hearing aid rather than replacing the battery.
Your hearing aid will be supplied with a charging pod and you simply plug in your devices overnight so they’re ready to use the next morning. There are even portable pods, so you can take it with you and charge your hearing aids on the move.
The great thing about rechargeable hearing aids is you don’t need to worry about running out of batteries. As long as your hearing aids are charged up, you’ll always be good to go. Whilst the built-in battery may need replacing (see above) during its lifespan, you won’t need to keep buying new batteries regularly, which could save you money in the long run. This also makes life easier for people with limited dexterity who might find it difficult or fiddly to change their hearing aid batteries.
Just like traditional hearing aids, rechargeables will work alongside a range of accessories such as remote controls, phones, TVs and smartphone applications to give you more control over your hearing and enjoy a better quality lifestyle.
